usual housekeeping post/update to fsx_gen ... but it occurs to me perhaps I should be x-posting it to fsx_net also so that as nodes are added/removed there's a track of this recorded in this echo. Which kinda seems like the right place to also note such stuff. Thoughts?
I think it's still a good move to post updates to fsx_gen still also as that's where it's been established such updates are shared with the network.
Howdy,
It makes sense to me that fsx_net is the place to talk about the network.

Does it need to be in two places tho?
just one echomail area, but yeah i take your point. If it were just posted here Id need to let folks know as I am not convinced all nodes are linked to this echo.. so I do worry that the reach of such posts may not be as great if only posted here.

Well, all you can do is say to everyone, "check you are linked to
FSX_NET" to make sure you get updates on the network.
For those who dont check (because they didnt read the message), they are probably dormanent nodes anyway with the systems on autopilot. When they come back from being away, there is no guarantee that they would read it wherever it was posted ...
It gives me an idea for clrghouz - I should be able to give you a view
of who is subscribed to each echo. I already can tell (it wont be 100% accurate unless I get all hubs feeding clrghouz) which echos a node is subscribed to...

Agreed. I don't think they need to be in fsx_gen, which is already "overcrowded".
Does it need to be in two places tho?
No, in my opinion.

yes and no, I could opt to make some echos mandatory and ask all HUBs to link nodes to them so that certain key messages do at least make it to nodes vs the hit and miss of will they/have they opted to sub the echomail area or not?

I don't think fsx_gen is overcrowded, when you say that what do
you mean?
No, in my opinion.
Noted, I'm leaning towards both still or at least fsx_gen as has
been done in the past.

Well, just that it's already the "catch-all" area, which I think gets more traffic than any other area.

Okay, it's not a huge deal either way. Just seems to me that the "housekeeping" posts are directly related to network/ops and that therefore the fsx_net area is a good fit.
Yes and no too right.
Well you can do that, but if their tosser doesnt have the area defined - and is not configured to create echo's then those mails only go into the badarea (or fill up their inbound with bad packets).
Folks here are adults (well some of us are), so they dont need to spoon fed. :)
If you wanted to make sure that folks new network information was in FSX_NET, a regulard post (say monthly) to the FSX_GEN (and others?) the summary of the echoareas in FSX.
Dan is doing some tidying up of NET 4 at preset and tomorrow I'll
post my usual housekeeping post/update to fsx_gen ... but it occurs
